It is God that comes into our hearts and completes us.
Genesis chapter three tells the story of man's fall from grace. Adam and Eve believed that something other than God himself could fulfill their longing hearts. Verses four and five say, “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” The subtle but deadly implication was that God was withholding something from them. It was the beginning of denial. It was the first sin, the sin of believing that God himself was not enough.
Since then, every one of us has repeated that original sin by seeking fulfillment in things that are far too small. Money, sex, drugs, power, status, entertainment, busy-ness--all are just puny drops falling into a cavernous emptiness. Even good things like work, family, friendships, and church can become cheap substitutes for real fulfillment. It's time to stop the denial, and put an end to the lie.
Only God can fill the void in our hearts. Listen to learn more at www. QCAradio.com.
