We are vessels, like Mary. We receive, we hold, and we pour out.
The Virgin Mary give us a profound example of what it means to walk out our faith. She bore the Christ child--the Son of God, into His fleshly life on earth. Mary's initial response to the Angel Gabriel's announcement was "how can this be?" She understood her own inadequacy for the call God was placing on her life. She also understood, as a good Jewish girl, that there would be a significant cost for her obedience. She would be humiliated, disowned by her family and fiance, and even possibly stoned. She would bring shame to her whole family, and rejected by all the faithful Jews in her village. And yet her response is one of perfect trust and obedience. "Be it unto me according your word." She was a willing and perfect vessel for the Messiah.
